I decided to begin a series about self-recognition, self-acceptance, and confidence. Every human life exudes worth, but most of us allow the world to leech it away. Here is a four-part series in hopes to combat that... or at least learn a unique perspective on thisYes. I'm using an allegory for Albus Dulmbledore. To reiterate your magical impact on the world, why not idolize the Headmaster of the greatest institution of Witchcraft and Wizardry? His pet alone symbolizes perpetual hope; a phoenix burning to rest and then rising from the ashes is exactly what you can do. We've all been burned, we've all felt like we were ashes below the valleys of Pompeii. What makes the Phoenix so majestic is that it doesn't settle for those ashes. What caused your ashes? Heartbreak? Emotional turmoil? Belittlement? Failure? Unrealistic expectations and judgment from others? Circumstances beyond your control? Repercussion of your less than wisest of actions? The list goes on.... but so do the minutes. What are you going to do with yours? When a love interest or experience harps on my happiness, I look to the sky. To God yes, but also to the planes that can take me away. No, not for good. No, I'm not "running from my problems" or "escaping my responsibilities" but, am escaping the mundane. My schedule can become so regimented if I allow it. That's one of the reasons I work 3 jobs-- not because I'm a poor social worker sleeping with the windows open and eating black beans and rice every night, but so I can pursue new experiences. I thirst for new interactions, lessons, and skills. Everyone can be teachable at something! This is your call to action to do just that. I refuse to wait around for the man of my dreams or, as my blog clearly illustrates, the next chapter and bend to begin my journey exploring what this exigent life exudes. I haven't quite figured out why complaints and insults are easier to cast than encouragement... but here's some for free ;))Chicago Cultural Center, Garland Court On 78 E. Washington St. in Chicago, you can find a 132X100 foot mural of 20 inspirational woman. They are from all diverse backgrounds with unique stories to tell. They all shaped the city of Chicago by growing through the pitfalls, abuse, aches, depression, injustice, doubt, and things we couldn't imagine enduring. Sure, this list seems like "just names" and a skeptic might walk past the Cultural Center and write them off as just "faces on a building's wall" but these women know the truth.
Be a face on a wall, a list of honorary women (or men) that have affected your town forever. Be a lasting legacy, as you were destined to be.That picture was actually taken by yours truly a month ago. The details of the names and a little background was learned at: https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/kjm_mural.html
